What I love about The City

Everything.

There must have been tens of thousands of people in San Francisco for Fleet Week and despite our aversion of crowds, Jimmy and I had such an amazing day. The weather couldn't have been better...70, sunny and clear.

We've lived in the Bay Area for 15 years and this was the 1st time we've gone to see the Blue Angels show in San Francisco.

The event started with their C130 "Fat Albert". This behemoth of a plane makes quite an entrance as it flew in from the Golden Gate Bridge.

And with the assistance of 8 solid-fuel (whatever that means) rocket bottles, it impressed the crowd by flying at a 45 degree angle faster than logically possible. Thinking of D&M in SD whenever I see or hear about C130s. Hi guys!!

After "Fat Albert" left our sights, the crowd kept looking in every direction for any sign of the 6 F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets.
Once someone said, "There they are!" all we could do was watch the airshow in awe.
Flying near the Trans-America Building.

Flying by Alcatraz.

Fleur de lis pattern.

Flying past the Golden Gate Bridge.

No matter how often I go into San Francisco, my breath is always taken away at how beautiful it is. Yesterday we left with crazy notions of moving there. I have to admit that I spent a couple of hours looking on Craigslist for rentals even though I know it's not gonna happen in the near future. But it doesn't hurt to just look and see what's out there. And with google maps street view, it's so easy to see not only the neighborhood but the front door of a prospective home. LOL!

thanks Sista!

you dream of living in SF, I dreamt of marrying a naval aviator after my first airshow. is that ironic?

too bad the bleu angels moved to FL! haha!

I think I told you this before, but we had a bit of a whirlwind trip to San Fran several years ago and it just left me wanting more. I'm jealous you get to go at all.

You totally nailed it, Mad! Man! What a sight. That city really is something else, so I can imagine why anyone would want to move there.

wow... great pics, i havent been in YEARS... since, you know. when my mom worked for NIS (naval investigative service) she used to get VIP seats -- unfortunately i was too wrapped up in that guy at the time (rolling my eyes) to take advantage of the perks she'd get! arghhh!

Okay, Mad, when you and Jimmy move to SF you absolutely HAVE TO invite me to come and visit. I want to see that Golden Gate Bridge!
I love going to Air Shows, we went to lots when my sons were younger, so I eventually got to recognise all the different planes. Haven't been to one for ages. It seems that air shows around here are few and far between as it's becoming increasingly expensive to get insirance coverage.
