Sky Watch Friday

For several months, I've noticed on Lilli's blog that she does a weekly photo challenge called Sky Watch Friday but I didn't know who hosted it and I didn't get around to ask her. But I finally linked over to Dot's blog at Strolling through Georgia via Rook's Nest because I noticed that Dot visited many of the same blogs that I visit. Well, I'm describing how many of us find each other in the blog world, so enuf said on that. But I'm very happy to be able to participate in something I've enjoyed photographing for years. In fact, this photo is from 2004 when I was in NYC. I'm going again and have been posting pictures from that trip, so thought this sky entry would be fitting for right now. Cheers!

Cheap

As we were leaving our hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, my SIL and I were in desperate need of peppermint mochas from Starbucks. Couldn't find one. So, we stopped at what we hoped would be the next best thing. Delicious donut shop coffee with the added perk of donuts. Cheaper, too! Well, sometimes cheaper isn't better. In fact, these were the worst donuts and the worst coffee we've ever had. Blech.

Abstract Photo Monday on Wednesday

I was inspired from by a post from Andrea's photo blog where she's showcasing some abstract photos every Monday. She invited anyone to share their own abstract photos so I took her up on the challenge. Thanks Andrea!
I took this first photo in Vancouver. I was on a cruise ship at Canada Place and left the shutter open for a total of 1 second, hand-held as still as possible for about 3/4 sec then moved the camera right till the shutter closed.

This photo was taken in Yosemite, also with a shutter speed of 1 second, driving slowly up a curvy, snow-packed road at 5:20pm in January.

Beardsley Resevoir

We went to Beardsley Reservoir for the first time last weekend. It's a fairly remote lake in the Sierra Nevadas. It was almost as if we had our own private lake all to ourselves.

Sure, exploring new places is the best part of geocaching, but looking through all of fun and crazy stuff people leave is a top highlight, too!

Artist

There's a great drive in Marin County, north of the GG Bridge that offers the best views of San Francisco and the famous bridge. The view is breathtaking, especially on a day such as this one, unobscured by fog. Artists, photographers, admirers, lovers, tourists, locals gather here.
